The Carolus Hotel is located in Florence inside a neo-classical XIX
century Palazzo.
A bright entrance with glass doors gives access to the main hall with marble floors
and the reception desk. In the adjacent ground floor halls, with their high ceilings and large
windows, there are two welcoming sitting areas decorated with comfortable sofas and armchairs,
a bar, and a cosy breakfast room. A flight of stairs or the elevator lead to the other three
floors of the hotel with quiet carpeted corridors.
The Carolus Hotel, after the complete recent restoration, offers to its

HISTORY
In 1865, when Florence became capital of the new kingdom of Italy (after centuries as
capital of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany), extensive alterations were made to the smallish
but extremely beautiful renaissance city.
It was at this time that neo-classical palazzo now occupied by the Carolus Hotel, was
built in Florence, between the Dominican convent of San Marco and the Fortezza da Basso,
near the Orti di Barbano.
Thus it is that the Carolus Hotel, located at the edge of the historic city
centre and close to the modern ring-road, provides magnificent hospitality in the
art-city par excellence, within easy reach of Florence's major monuments and
best-known shops.
Those who are visiting Florence on business will find the Carolus Hotel an
ideal base, conveniently close to the Palazzo dei Congressi, the Palazzo delle
Esposizioni (inside the Fortezza da Basso), the railway station, and the
ring-road giving access to the motorways and the airport.

The Carolus Hotel has a privileged location in Florence, a few steps from the Museo dell'Accademia where the David of Milchelangelo is, from San Marco and the frescos of Fra' Angelico, and from the Basilica of San Lorenzo and the Medicean Chapels
The Duomo, the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, and the shopping district are just a few steps more. The Centro Congressi and the Fair are 500 metres from the hotel.
Directions from the Airport of Florence and from Highway A1 (Exit Firenze Nord)
From Highway A1 exit "Firenze Nord" or from the Airport of Florence, follow the direction "Viali di circonvallazione" until reaching Piazza della Libertà, then turn in Via Cavour and continue until Piazza San Marco.
From Piazza San Marco turn right in Via Archibusieri, which after few metres, becomes Via XXVII Aprile.
The Carolus Hotel is at number 3.
Parking:
the Carolus hotel is in the historic city center of Florence, for parking upon arrival it is possible to request the hotel's parking service or simply use public parking.
Public transportation from the airport of Florence:
In front of the arrival terminal take "Navetta Aeroporto" the bus shuttle that leaves every 15 minutes for the Florence main train station Santa Maria Novella. From the station either by taxi or by foot (about 5 minutes) take Via Nazionale and turn right in Via XXVII Aprile.
